BTS RM’S MUSIC, DOCUMENTARY & BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE DAY

When it comes to books, RM in BTS is the one who loves to read. He loves art which we have seen his photos of him visiting museums, he loves nature, art and loves books. He even donated to a museum on his birthday to spread the culture of reading beautiful art works. With their busy schedule it is great to see BTS catching up with the things that they love doing apart from creating beautiful life changing music.

Today RM posted a few recomendations for ARMY on their Weverse App; a book, a documentary and music he is listening to. I’m happy to say that I watched the documentary a few weeks ago and it is totally thought provoking to say the least. Its no surprise that RM would recommend it knowing how indepth and detailed the documentary is. The book is by a Korean author, and is in Korean, making some people to search for the English version.

“I dont know Korean but when Joon recommends a book I know I’ll like it cause we have similar taste. Can someone please tell me what’s the name of the book and is there a translated version od it in one of these languages: English, Arabic or French? Thank you” @Ben_Saralynn13

“Social dilemna is good! I’ve watched because recommended in my course and I can’t believe Namjoon also have been into this” @fluffybantanie

RM’s recommendations are having ARMY look for the book, going to watch the documentary and even adding the music to their playlists. The power that is RM and his brain that we would like to pick at.

The BOOK

‘Depth of Scenery’ by Kang YoBae

The book is “Depth of Scenery” is a collection of essays and works of art by Korean painter Kang Yo Bae, a record compiled from his years of observation and study of nature.

The DOCUMENTARY

‘The Social Dilemna’

This documentary-drama hybrid explores the dangerous human impact of social networking, with tech experts sounding the alarm on their own creations. The film explores the rise of social media and the damage it has caused to society, focusing on its exploitation of its users for financial gain through surveillance capitalism and data mining, how its design is meant to nurture an addiction, its use in politics, its effect on mental health (including the mental health of adolescents and rising teen suicide rates), and its role in spreading conspiracy theories such as Pizzagate and aiding groups such as flat-earthers. The Social Dilemma premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and was released on Netflix on September 9, 2020.

The MUSIC

‘Ew’ by Joji

Joji real name George Kusunoki Miller, formerly known by his online aliases Filthy Frank and Pink Guy, is a Japanese singer-songwriter, record producer, author, and former Internet personality, YouTuber, and comedian. Joji’s music has been described as trip hop and lo-fi that blends elements of trap, folk, electronic, and R&B. His songs have been characterized as having “down tempo, melancholic themes and soulful vocals” with “minimalistic production”. He has been compared to electronic artist James Blake, whom he also names as an influence alongside Radiohead, Shlohmo and Donald Glover. In an interview with Pigeons and Planes, Miller said that his music was inspired by his time growing up in Osaka and by boom bap instrumentals he listened to while attending Canadian Academy.

With these 3 recommendations, ARMY can dive deeper or know a little more about RM because of the books he reads, music he listens to and the kind of films he watches.
