BTS’ 2021 GRAMMY NOMINATIONS BRINGS BACK “WHAT YOONGI WANTS, YOONGI GETS,” HERE’S WHY THE PHRASE IS MORE REAL THAN EVER!

BTS’ Suga earned the nickname “Minstradamus” after his uncanny ability to predict BTS’s future achievements. He predicted BTS’s appearance at the Grammys, their first performance at the Billboard Music Awards, and much more. ARMY have normalized the saying “What Suga Wants, Suga Gets” or “What Yoongi wants, Yoongi Gets.” Here are some of Suga’s predictions that will give you goosebumps. During BTS’s 2015 Festa, Suga said that his wish was to see BTS perform at a large venue. He jokingly suggested Seoul’s Olympic Stadium even calling his wish “outrageous,” to the amusement of the other members.

Then three years later, BTS performed at the Olympic Stadium on August 25 and 26 in 2018. Agust D (Suga) predicted BTS’s chart-topping success in his 2016 single “Agust D” claiming that BTS would conquer Billboard, rolls in 2017, and BTS was asked what the next step would be in their careers. In response, Suga said, “We want to perform at the Billboard Music Awards”. BTS performed “Fake Love” at the BBMAs in 2018.

SUGA wanted BTS to become nominees for the Billboard Music Awards, they ended up winning the “Top Social Artist” award which they have consistently won over the years. Suga is known to write lyrics that have a meaning and often speak of the future sometimes, in Agust D’s song “The Last”, SUGA rapped about performing in Japan’s famous dome venues with the lyrics “The things I’ve only imagined turns into reality. My childhood dreams are in front of my eyes. The night when I performed in front of an audience of 2. Now Tokyo Dome is right in front my nose”. The Love Yourself Tour became part of their 2018 to 2019 concerts where they performed in domes.

In an interview, SUGA once said that he wanted BTS to become “the most influential artist in the world”. BTS was featured on the 2018 cover of TIME magazine for being “next generation leaders”. During an interview with Jimmy Fallon in September 2018, when the host asked them “What do you want to accomplish, what’s next. What do you want to do?” Suga said “Go to Grammy” even BTS members were shocked and awed.

In a 2018 interview, BTS was asked what the “next-next” step for them would be after they conquered Billboard, (Jimin literally put his foot on RM’s lap repeating next, next step) SUGA shyly said a Grammy, and the rest of BTS cracked up turning to look at him. Well, come 2019 they attended the Grammys as presenters to singer H.E.R’s Best R&B album award and their Love Yourself: Tear album was nominated for the “Best Recording Package”. In 2020 BTS performed the song “Old Town Road” at the Grammys with Lil Nas and Billy Ray Cyrus. Now they are nominated for the 2021 Grammys for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.”

In an interview BTS was asked how they would pick up a girl and SUGA just went “Do you know BTS?”, Mic Drop moment right there. What more predictions hold for SUGA, time will tell, as for now let us enjoy his great thoughts for the future of BTS

Next prediction coming true, maybe?
