BTS’ JUNG KOOK DEBUTS AT #1 ON BILLBOARD HOT 100 CHART! WITH “SEVEN” FEAT. LATTO, the SECOND KOREAN SOLOIST IN HISTORY & SECOND BTS MEMBER TO EARN THE TOP POSITION!

BTS member Jung Kook has joined his fellow bandmate Jimin in debuting a song at #1 On Billboard Hot 100! He is now the second member to achieve such a milestone in the chart’s history as an Asian Act and soloist. He also joins his group as the only Asian act to debut a song on the 100 US chart. “Seven” featuring Latto was released on July 14th with high rankings on streaming sites and setting records on others. “Seven” debuted with 21.9 million streams, 6.4 million in airplay audience and 153,000 combined digital and CD singles sold.

The song was the fastest in history to reach 100 #1s on iTunes worldwide. It hit US iTunes in the shortest time in history, the song became the fastest song to reach 100 million streams on Spotify. The song had the highest number of debut day streams at 16 million streams beating his member’s hit record “Butter.”

“Seven” was the highest-charting debut single by a solo Korean act in history when the song debuted at number three on the UK Singles Chart. Australia, Ireland, Japan, Lithuania, South Korea, Australia, and Ireland all ranked it in the top 10. With around 16 million streams, “Seven” set a record for the highest opening-day streaming for a male artist and collaboration in history and the biggest debut of 2023. It also debuted at the top of the daily Global Spotify Chart. Jungkook became the first K-pop artist to debut at the top of the global list and the first Korean solo artist to top the U.S. Spotify chart.

The song received the biggest chart debut ever for a solo Korean act when it debuted at number three on the UK Singles Chart. Jimin, a bandmate of BTS, who peaked at number eight with “Like Crazy” a few months earlier, had previously established the mark, which was eclipsed by Jungkook. He also shared the record for the highest debut and peak on the Singles Chart with BTS; the band had previously launched with “Dynamite” at number three in 2020 and “Butter” and “My Universe” at numbers three in 2021.

On its first day (July 14) in the United States, “Seven” received 5.11 million on-demand streams and sold more than 34,000 digital downloads, according to Luminate. Over the following three days, it continued to generate over 2.5 million streams each day, amassing 13.7 million streams in its first four days of release, and selling an additional 32,000 digital copies during that period.

On the day of its release, Jungkook debuted “Seven” live alongside “Euphoria” and “Dynamite” in Central Park as part of Good Morning America’s Summer Concert series. On July 20, he made an appearance on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge segment and gave a studio performance of the song along with an Oasis cover of “Let There Be Love.” He performed the song live on The One Show on a stage outside near to the Thames River in London on July 21. At none of the concerts, Latto was present.
