D-DAY was released on April 21, 2023. The album has ten tracks and guest appearances from Woosung of the Rose, IU, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and BTS bandmate J-Hope. In order to promote the project, two singles were made available: “People Pt. 2” starring IU on April 7 and “Haegeum,” which debuted in conjunction with the album. Both singles were accompanied by music videos, and on April 24 a third one for the song “Amygdala” was made available.
The Hanteo Chart shows that D-Day sold 1,072,311 copies globally on its first day, breaking Jimin of BTS’s previous record of 1,021,532. After Jimin, Agust D is the second Korean solo artist to reach one million first-day sales on the Hanteo Chart. In the United States, D-Day debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 with 140,000 album-equivalent units, including 122,000 pure album sales (90% of which were CD sales).
