"D-DAY" ALBUM BY AGUSTD SURPASSED 700 MILLION STREAMS ON SPOTIFY, HE'S THE FIRST AND ONLY K-POP SOLOIST TO BREAK THIS SPOTIFY RECORD

 

D-Day album has surpassed 700 Million streams on Spotify it makes Agust D The FIRST AND ONLY K-Pop Soloist to have multiple albums reaching over 700 Million streams on Spotify. Agust D, better known as Suga from BTS 's debut studio album D-Day was the third release of a trilogy of works that already included the mixtapes Agust D (2016) and D-2 (2020), and it was made available on April 21, 2023, via Big Hit Music. The album, which has ten tracks, includes cameos from IU, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Woosung of the Rose, and BTS bandmate J-Hope. The project was promoted with the release of two singles: "Haegeum," which debuted with the album, and "People Pt. 2," which featured IU, on April 7. Both songs were accompanied by music videos; on April 24, a third one for the song "Amygdala" was made available.


The record formerly held by Jimin of BTS, who sold 1,021,532 copies of his debut solo album Face on its release day in March, was surpassed by D-Day, which sold 1,072,311 copies globally on its first day, according to the Hanteo Chart. After Jimin, Agust D became the second Korean solo artist to reach one million first-day sales in the history of the Hanteo Chart. 

The album sold 111,621 copies when it debuted at the top of the daily Oricon Albums Chart in Japan on April 21, 2023. Eight tracks from the album made their debut in the top 20 of the corresponding daily issue of the Digital Singles Chart: "Snooze" at number 13, "Huh?!" at number 14, "D-Day" at number 15, "Life Goes On" at number 17, "Amygdala" at number 18, "SDL" at number 19, and "Polar Night" at number 20. "Haegeum" debuted at number three with 3,524 sales. D-Day made its debut in the US at number two on the Billboard 200, racking up 140,000 album-equivalent units, of which 122,000 were pure album sales (with 90% coming from CD sales). It's Suga's first album to reach the US top 10.

In October 2023, D-Day received a nomination for Album of the Year at the MAMA Awards while "People Pt. 2" was nominated in the Best Rap & Hip-Hop Performance and Song of the Year categories In November, it was nominated for the Million Top 10 award at the Melon Music Awards. The following month, D-Day was nominated in the Album division at the upcoming Golden Disc Awards.
