BTS JIN TALKS ABOUT WHY “MAP OF THE SOUL:7” WAS THE RIGHT ALBUM FOR 2020

With “Map of the Soul: 7” Album, BTS became the first Asian group to top the album charts in the top five music markets in the world—the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, and France. Speaking about the Album on Variety, RM stated “Many things were not intended as far as our career. We didn’t know we would ever reach this kind of position. One day, we woke up and we were like, ‘Where are we?’ When you don’t know where to go, I think the best way is to walk down the road you have been walking on.

So, the reboot is the best way to reflect ourselves and figure out ourselves again: Where are we? What are we doing? Who were we in the past? And [who are we] right now? That’s how it happened.” Suga added “When it comes to this album, it’s called [Map of the Soul:] 7. We worked together for seven years, there’s seven of us. It’s a lot more than just inspiration, this album contains our stories.” Jin echoes their sentiments on Rolling Stone IndiaRead Full Article

Riddhi Chakraborty “There were so many great moments in this record that were throwbacks to previous works, especially Skool Luv Affair, Wings, “Sea”, “Save Me,” O!RUL8,2? and so much more. Why was Map of the Soul: 7 the right album and 2020 the right year to explore this full-circle moment?”

Jin: “This year marks our seventh anniversary and so while working on this album, we got to look back at those years together. We took a trip down memory lane, and naturally the ‘reboot’ concept seemed fitting for this project.”
