JUNGKOOK “SEVEN” SURPASSED BTS’ “BUTTER” & IS NOW THE LONGEST CHARTING SONG BY KOREAN ACT AT #1 ON BILLBOARD GLOBAL 200 CHART

It has been BTS vs. BTS ever since Jung Kook’s “Seven” feat. Latto was released. The song has once again surpassed BTS’ record by becoming the longest charting song by Korean Act at #1 on Billboard Global 200. The song has just spent its 5th consecutive week at #1 on the chart. Both Jungkook and Latto achieved their first number-one hit on those charts when the song debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and the Global 200. “Seven” made a record for the largest opening-day streaming for a male artist and collaboration in history and the biggest debut of 2023 with about 16 million streams.

“Seven” also made its debut at the top of the global Spotify Chart every day. Jungkook made history by becoming the first K-pop artist to top the Spotify chart in the United States and the first Korean solo artist to enter the chart at the top overall.

According to Luminate, “Seven” earned 5.11 million on-demand streams on its opening day (July 14, 2023) and sold more over 34,000 digital downloads. It generated more than 2.5 million streams every day for the next three days, generating 13.7 million streams in the first four days of release and selling 32,000 more digital copies in that time.

With 269,000 downloads sold and 217.1 million streams accumulated globally from July 14 through July 20, 2023, “Seven” debuted at the top of the corresponding issue of the Billboard Global 200, narrowly beating out Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” (the week of February 4, 2023) for the biggest week for a song by a solo artist since the chart’s inception. It also has the second-largest overall streaming week of all time, trailing only the week of June 5, 2021, when BTS’s “Butter” received 289.2 million streams. Jungkook became the first BTS member to reach No. 1 on the world singles list.
