BTS ‘MAP OF THE SOUL: 7’ BREAKS GUINNESS WORLD RECORD AS BEST SELLING ALBUM IN SOUTH KOREA WITH OVER 4 MILLION COPIES SOLD!

“2020 has seen BTS break several records including their own. Here we are waiting for the 21st of August to win again and the record-breaking streak is still ongoing. Their latest Album Map of the Soul: 7 has once again set a new Guinness World Record by being the Bestselling Album of 2020 in South Korea. With a record-breaking record of 4,265,617 copies sold by June 2020! It is just the beginning of the year and already almost 5 million copies have been sold! Map of the Soul: 7 Album gave BTS their 4th No 1 Album on the Billboard 200 Chart in a span of less than 2 years.

Back in 2019 Map of the Soul: Persona sold 3,399,302 copies in South Korea in May. The album was released on 12th April 2019 and had already sold 3,229,032 copies in its first month. Persona also topped the charts around the world including the UK Official Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. Their hit song ‘Boy With Luv’ set several records for BTS as it had 74.6 million views within 24 hours which cemented its title in the Guinness World Records for ‘most views YouTube video in 24 hours’ beating “Me!” by Taylor Swift (ft. Brendon Urie) which had 65.2 million views. The same year BTS had several social media records that included Most twitter engagements (average retweets) and Most twitter engagements (average retweets) for a music group.

BTS Map of the Soul: Persona was the Bestselling Album in Korea in 2019. ARMY was also a part of BTS’s record breaking achievements, as that same year 2019, BTS had the ‘most used hashtag in 24 hours’ with the hashtag #TwitterBestFandom which was tweeted a total of 60,055,339 times! Power of ARMY people!

It is not only the Map of the Soul: 7 Album that is breaking records, but also song titles in that album have been topping the charts and breaking records as well. Black Swan is one example which beat Adele’s 5 Year iTunes Record with the song ‘Hello’. Hello was number 1 in 102 countries for 5 years, BTS Black Swan beat that by having 103 #1’s on iTunes making it the song with the most #1’s in history!

BTS is always working. If they are not writing music, writing lyrics or arranging chart topping music, they are producing their own music. They have proved that when you have a passion for what you love and enjoy it, you will achieve your goals in the end. This pandemic has not stopped them from sharing themselves with their fans regardless of their busy schedules which include reality shows– In The Soop, RUN BTS, product endorsements – recently the Samsung Event and even dance practices. BTS is always on the move, and they take us ARMY with them. It is no surprise they are always breaking records for doing what they love the most.

So far, the 1st half of the year has been amazing for BTS, and THEY NEVER STOP! Now imagine how the year will end. The new single is not only what we have to look forward to, their new Album is set to be released later in the second half of 2020. It is true that BTS music brings joy, healing, happiness, for me it is the only thing that has made this pandemic season bearable, as they make me look forward to something new every time.
